A qPCR Array (QuantArray™) Demonstrates Biodegradation at Petroleum Impacted Sites

Petroleum products are complex mixtures of hundreds of aliphatic, aromatic, and cyclic compounds. Even for a class of related contaminants like BTEX, biodegradation can proceed by different pathways making comprehensive assessment of biodegradation potential difficult.

A qPCR array (QuantArray™) cost-effectively addresses these issues by providing simultaneous quantification of a broad spectrum of functional gene targets in a single platform.

For petroleum impacted sites, QuantArray analysis includes not only functional genes for aerobic biodegradation of BTEX, PAHs, MTBE, and alkanes but also more divergent families of functional genes and the recently described carboxylases responsible for anaerobic biodegradation of benzene and naphthalene.

This webinar presents case studies using QuantArrays along with traditional groundwater monitoring to evaluate MNA, enhanced aerobic bioremediation (EOx™) and enhanced anaerobic bioremediation via sulfate addition (EAS™).

This webinar is made available through EOS Remediation, LLC. For over a decade EOS Remediation has been the leading provider of in situ bioremediation products that reengineer the groundwater environment transforming contaminants into non-toxic end products. We offer a complete suite of bioremediation products including the original emulsified vegetable oil substrate; EOS® (emulsified oil substrate).
